REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: much better than I expected.

BOTTOM LINE: Linksys is crap
REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: about as I expected.
DETAILS: The general opinion seems to be that all sub-$250 routers are toys. They may fulfill the basic requirements needed for home use but can be a big headache if you need to use them seriously -- like connecting to the office with true reliability. The Linksys design team seems to be a pack of idiots. Many of the features in the router aren't real because they can cause trouble if you try to use them. The unit was out of production before they even had a stable firmware version. Search http://www.dslreports.com for Linksys firmware comments.

BOTTOM LINE: Has Finally turned into an excellent router.
REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: much better than I expected.
DETAILS: I changed to one of these routers after my beloved cisco4000 died & while it was a snap to setup & worked well most of the time it locked up about once a week & rebooted practically daily. However the lastest firmware version has fixed all the problems I was having & I would now describe it's performance as supurb. I have 4 PC's behind it XP & Linux & am getting the occasional grumble from my cable provider for hogging bandwidth 4Mbit peak down 256K up.

BOTTOM LINE: Got up and running in Minutes, like plug and play
REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: better than I expected.
DETAILS: Needs very little time to setup and is maintenance free, almost. The startup guides are enough to guide any newbie to be able to setup the product successfully.

BOTTOM LINE: A great appliance for the price
REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: better than I expected.
DETAILS: The sx41 works great, but I have not used the VPN feature. I am using the 1.50.9 firmware, and have had only minor problems. Sometimes the internet connection gets disconnected (PPPOE authentication failure), but I just accces the router page and reconnect. So far the sx41 has done it's job. Scott

BOTTOM LINE: The BEFSX41 is a great addition to my network
REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: much better than I expected.
DETAILS: This router has flawlessly protected my home network for 3 years! I run two Windows servers (file and web) and have never had a hacker inside my network. I even offered a highschool kid (self claimed expert hacker) $20 to put a file on my server. I gave him my IP address and he and his buddies were unsuccessful. This is an easy to use router with a lot of features for the price. The nay sayers simply don't like Linksys.

BOTTOM LINE: Works perfectly
REALITY vs. EXPECTATIONS: better than I expected.
DETAILS: I've had this router for several years, using it for a DSL connection. We recently switched to cable. After upgrading the firmware to add MAC cloning, it came right up. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking!
