This document applies to the firmware upgrade of the Linksys Wireless Access Point (WAP11).

The WAP11 v1.4f.8 firmware has been upgraded to enhance features and performance.  
Please see the VER.TXT file for a detailed list of updates.

The firmware upgrade utility may only be performed on a PC with USB support running 
Microsoft Windows 98, Me or 2000.


Installing and Executing the Firmware Upgrade software
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Make sure the WAP11 is powered on.  The red LED on the front of the WAP11 will 
be on when the WAP11 is on.  If you have not already done so, connect the USB 
able to both the WAP11 and the PC from which you are performing the upgrade.  
(If you are unsure how to connect this cable, refer to your User Guide.)  
This upgrade may only be performed via the USB cable.  

2. Double-click on the Disk1 folder, which will be in the same folder as this 
file.  Double-click on setup.exe.

3. Follow the Wizard to complete the installation.  After the installation is 
complete, close any windows that may have been left open.

4. The installation will place an "Upgrade firmware to 1.4f.8" icon on your 
desktop.  You may launch the upgrade utility from this icon.  You may also launch 
the program from its folder Programs Linksys WAP11, and select "Linksys WAP11 
USB Upgrade Firmware to 1.4f" program. 

5. The upgrade will begin and show a status bar indicating its progress.

6. After the upgrade is complete, the status indicator will read:  Upgrade successful.
Click the Exit button to close the Upgrade Utility.  The new firmware is installed.


NOTE: If you get a message that the upgrade has not completed, or if the installation 
is interrupted for any reason, try turning the WAP11 off and on and running the upgrade 
utility again, beginning with Step 1.

Updating Configuration Utilities:

In order to use all of the features of this new firmware, you must download the new 
Configuration Utilities from the Linksys Web site - http://www.linksys.com/download.
