If you’re having trouble pinging a machine on your LAN behind the Sonicwall do the following:

You need a machine that will respond to pings and a hole through SonicWALL to allow them.

If you don’t already have one, create a Service for “Ping [8,1]” and “Ping [0,1]”.

Then since you are using NAT, add a rule to allow Ping to be sent to whatever internal system should handle it; e.g.,

Allow Ping * 192.168.0.1 (LAN)

This assumes that you are running SonicWALL in NAT mode and that you have assigned the private network address 192.168.0.1 to the machine that will respond to pings.

If this doesn’t work, check the SonicWALL log to see what is happening to the inbound pings.
