If you get error messages or no response when you try to send mail from a sharing Client, there's probably something wrong with the Wingate SMTP service or the SMTP settings in your mail application. Try the following:

• Check that you've properly configured the Wingate SMTP service.  Review the setup instructions here.
  
  

• Go back and check that you've entered the proper IP address of the machine running Wingate into your email application..  This should be 192.168.0.1 if you've followed my instructions.
  
  

• Make sure you've setup the Wingate SMTP service to access the SMTP server of  your current ISP.  Most ISP's allow you to receive mail from any POP mailbox (unless they are behind a firewall), but require that you use their SMTP server.  This is to prevent spammers and other undesirables from using their servers to relay junk email or create other mischief.  If you recently changed ISPs, be sure to use the new ISPs SMTP server information.
