No response from shared Mac ping can be caused by the same things as on the PC.  Only the dialog boxes are different!

• Loose, bad or misconnected cable from Local network NIC to sharing Client NIC.    Check this diagram for an example setup.
  
  
• IP number not set correctly.  Go back through the Mac TCP/IP setup process and also make sure the Proxy configuration is selected.
  
  
• You didn't wait long enough.  Make sure you wait about 30 seconds before trying to ping the Mac that you just configured TCP/IP on. This allows the Mac to register the change on the network.
  
  
• If you have two NICs in your sharing computer, you need to set the TCP/IP Control Panel "Connect via" dropdown box to the Ethernet card that is connected to your LAN.  Open Transport TCP/IP only can have one Ethernet card active at a time.   Once you install your Sharing software on the Sharing computer, however, you'll be able to ping both the LAN and Internet from the Sharing computers.
